The Department of English, in collaboration with the Tetso Alumni Network, Tetso College, successfully organised an engaging Alumni Perspectives Program titled “Beyond the Classroom: What No One Told Me About Life After College!” on 7th October 2025 at Hall 1994, Tetso College, alongside the much-anticipated inauguration of the Tetso Alumni Office.

The event brought together faculty, students, and alumni in a meaningful exchange that celebrated learning, experience, and connection beyond the classroom walls.

The program was graced by the presence of five distinguished alumni from various batches of the Department of English - Lamneiphal Khongsai (BA batch of 2021), Tonoto Zhimomi (BA batch of 2021), Suthilu Nyekha (BA batch of 2024), Tokyo Humtsoe (MA batch of 2025), and Alila Longkumer (MA batch of 2024), who shared their personal and professional journeys, shedding light on the transition from college life to the real world. Their stories reflected the essence of resilience, adaptability, and lifelong learning—values that Tetso College continues to instil in its students.

The event began with a warm welcome address by the President of the Tetso Alumni Network, Ms Chubamenla, who emphasised the importance of sustaining bonds between past and present students, describing the alumni as “living testaments to the College’s enduring spirit of learning and growth.”

The Principal, Dr Hewasa L. Khing, in her address, encouraged students to draw inspiration from the experiences of their alumni and to actively learn from their journeys, challenges, and achievements. She also emphasised the importance of fostering a deeper, more collaborative alumni network that can serve as a source of mentorship, guidance, and opportunity for both current students and graduates. Her words highlighted the college’s continued vision of creating a community where learning extends beyond the classroom and connections grow stronger with time.

The interaction session was followed by a lively Q&A discussion between students and alumni, where students raised questions about career choices, personal growth, and the relevance of classroom learning in real-world contexts. The interaction concluded on a warm and reflective note, and participants shared thoughts on how the session had inspired them to view their own academic journey with renewed purpose.

In her Vote of ThanksMs Limajungla, Assistant Coordinator of the Tetso Alumni Committee, expressed heartfelt appreciation to the Principal, the Department of English, the alumni speakers, and all faculty and students who made the event a success. She noted, “Today was not just a program—it was a homecoming. Each story shared reminded us of how deeply our roots remain connected to Tetso.”

Adding to the day’s significance was the inauguration of the Tetso Alumni Office, a dedicated space envisioned as a hub for alumni engagement, mentorship, and collaboration. The ribbon-cutting ceremony marked a significant milestone for the Tetso Alumni Network, symbolising a stronger bond between alumni and the college community.

The event stood as a testament to Tetso College’s commitment to fostering not only academic excellence but also a lasting sense of community and shared growth among its students and alumni.
